Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur was established in 1920.College has always been a paragon and a source of inspiration in the field of science and technology.It has maintained its conspicuous presence in the technical world. HBTI has a history of realization, fulfillment of necessities and advancement in the field of science and technology. Institute has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow.Government Research Institute, Cawnpore was established in 1920, which was renamed as Government Technological Institute in 1921. Finally in 1926 it got the name by which it is known today Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. It is dedicated for the cause of rapid industrial development, creating a healthy environment for applied researches and above all to carve out men and women, having a truly rational and scientific demeanor.The institute is spread across two campuses, the east campus and the West campus situated about 3 km apart The east campus is spreaded over an area of 77 acres and the west campus is spreaded over an area of 71 acres.HBTI Chairman Message :-

Master of Engineering or Master of Technology or Master of Science in Technology or Master of Engineering degree is a postgraduate program in engineering or technology field.ME/MTech degree program exposes students to a wide range of courses, combined with specialized research which culminates in a thesis. Such a combination gives students the breadth and depth necessary for pursuing careers in academics as well as industry.The residence requirements for ME/MTech program is four semesters. However, it is possible to get permission to spend one semester elsewhere. If someone wants to carry out the thesis work in a company, or at some other educational institution, it is allowed by the Institute.The scope of the course varies from material research to machinery development, Nano Technology, Smart materials, Aerospace Technology, Missiles technology, CAD/CAM, FMS, CIM, Automation and such other interrelated developments.Admission Details of HBTI, Kanpur :-
